Memorial Day

Image
Hey Y'all, So... Since we didn't make it back to Indiana, there really was no preparations on our end.  We went out to my sister's where her husband helped Chris troubleshoot the alternator issues, our nephew grilled, and us girls hung out in the shade and chatted. They got the issues resolved, we ate potatoes & sausages, and enjoyed the mild weather. Thanks, The Outlands

Fun Things We've Done In NW Indiana

Image
Hey Y'all! When not working we've had some fun at Kankakee Sands, and Fair Oaks Farms. We've also travelled to a few nearby town, and explored around them some as well. Check out our YouTube channel to see more: https://www.youtube.com/@outlandadventures/featured Hey y'all! It's been busy this past week and a half! Long story short, the van, Brunilda, is done with our adventures. Ol' No Name made her channel debut in a short this week, and has been on our Facebook a few times. FYI, getting insurance was a PITA. As has been an alternator issue... All my scans and appointments went well! Yay! We're hoping to get on the road back to IN, and our workamping jobs soon. Because of all these issues, the big blog/video about both places will be some time in the future. Thanks, The Outlands

Workamping, One Month In

Image
Hey Y'all, So, we're one month into this gig.... What are our thoughts? When we first arrived, we were given our spot and got settled in. Picnic table and fire ring were delivered by Chris & Dave (one of the owners) a few days later. The entrance to the park is very pretty! As is the park as a whole. The bathhouse is very nice, and always clean. The pond/beach area is looking very nice! We wish there was laundry on site, especially since the nearest laundromat is kinda crappy, and takes forever to dry clothes. The sunsets here? Beautiful! One of the jobs Chris has done? Mulching this area, it didn't photo real well but there a hill there, and some plants/flowers. Another Chris job? Sanding & painting all the picnic tables. Told ya these sunsets were stunning! Chris has been doing the above jobs, weed killing, leaf burning, tree trimming, wood splitting, groundskeeping, and other manual labor. I've been learning the campground layout, the check-in software ...

Day In The Life: Breakdowns & Travel

Hey Y'all, As we prepare to travel from NW Indiana to NE Tennessee, things quickly turn to chaos... Enjoy: Thanks, The Outlands

Upcoming Travel Plans

Image
Hey Y'all! It's that time again...  Checkups & scans.  We'll be gone from the 10th -17th, traveling to TN and attending all the appointments, then back here to NW IN. The owners here have been fantastic about our needing time off for this. We couldn't ask for better 'bosses'. We will travel out of our way to avoid Indianapolis.  We all have a city we hate to travel through, and that's ours. We also prefer anything but interstate, there's really nothing to see, and it's not nearly as fun, but it's faster in times like this. This rough plan is a good mix of both. It says almost 10hrs, so we figure 12. 6hr days are about our limit now, so we'll stop at the half way point, or a little further, and either parking lot it or get a cheap site, then we'll finish getting there the next day. Same thing but reverse for the return trip. I haven't booked anything, I usually do that last minute and haven't had any real problems yet. My app...

Reorganizing The Van (& Updated Tour!)

Image
Hey Y'all! This one is a bit late, because we're relying on our mobile hotspot, and cell signal isn't the strongest. We usually maintain between 1 and 3 bars of signal, on occasion it drops to nothing, but that's rare. Writing blogs is no problem, but uploading videos is slow. Work In Progress! We had a day off, and decided it was past time to clean the van and reorganize the drawers & the garage. I worked on the drawers, and cleaning the sand out of the rugs-seriously so much sand, we just washed them. Chris worked on the garage, and garbage. Here's a short I did during one of my breaks: I started off by emptying all the drawers and cleaning them out. One was full of soap, so I figured I may as well scrub them all. It was the right decision, they were kinda gross (hair, sand, dust). While I did that Chris worked on taking things out of the rear, to rearrange and move some items elsewhere, as well as getting rid of a few things. Since he had all the bins out I ...
