Two In One (Finished Van, Travel Questionnaire)
Hey Y'all!
Let's catch up.
25th, Tues- Finished Van Redo: Our Final Thoughts
27th, Thu- Travel Questionnaire
First off the redo of Brunilda, our 1991 Chevy G20 conversion van:
Our final thoughts?
Though it took a bit longer than expected to:
Remove and reinstall new carpet
Remove the interior side panels, and add insulation
Remove the rear a/c and all the hoses, etc that went with it
Remove the third seat
Plug the holes, made from all the removals
Build a new bed frame
We love it. There's so much more room between the front and bed area. Also the amount of space gained under the bed is great! We're able to fit so much more under there, and no longer have to shuffle a ton of things around from the back to the front seats, and back. The insulation seems to be helping keep it cooler to, which was much needed since it's been in the 90s no matter where we've gone. It's been great, and didn't cost too much (less than $400). The bed is especially the best part of the redo.
Travel Questionnaire:
https://pastquestionsandanswers.com/travel-survey-questions/
- If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why? Our next go to is Ohio, if health things for Amanda turn out to be good... we'll find out soon. We plan to see family, and attend our nephews graduation party.
- What type of travel experience excites you the most: exploring ancient ruins, indulging in luxury, or seeking adrenaline-pumping adventures? None of those really. We like to explore the local history, and do the medium adrenaline adventures.
- Have you ever had a travel experience that completely changed your perspective? If so, tell us about it! Not really, no.
- What’s your dream travel companion: a best friend, a romantic partner, a solo adventure, or a group of friends? We've traveled all those ways. Together (with each other) is #1.
- Describe the most unique or unusual travel experience you’ve ever had. Getting lost in PA, heavy fog in WV, the miles long bridge tunnel in VA, the up over the hill into the river experience in AL.. there's been a lot of moments.
- What hidden gem destination do you think deserves more attention and why? We've said it before, but small town America has a lot to see, regardless of which town you choose. We did love Athens, AL!
- What’s one item on your travel bucket list that you absolutely must experience? Land of Oz, in NC it's only open a few weekends a year now though. (Currently tickets are for mid September and are roughly $75)
- In your opinion, what makes a travel experience truly unforgettable? The little moments. Like almost stepping on a snake in Harrison Bay State Park. Or the beautiful sunsets in AL.
- If you could travel back in time to any historical period, where would you go and why? Late 1800/Early 1900s. It's when our country was really getting established, and things were constantly being discovered/developed.
- Share a funny or embarrassing travel story that you look back on and laugh about now. Ummm... ok. We haven't shared this story, but one night while we were parked in a parking lot we decided we didn't need to put up our travel toilet, and well... we should have. Amanda had to go in the early morning hours and we had a medium BK cup... well it overflowed. Live and learn!
- On a scale of 1-5, how satisfied were you with your overall travel experience? (1 = Extremely dissatisfied, 5 = Extremely satisfied) 5
- What were the highlights of your trip? What experiences did you enjoy the most? This last leg of our journey? Seeing family, spoiling children, playing with the baby, making memories.
- Is there anything you would have changed about your itinerary or travel arrangements? Not really, no. We always avoid Indianapolis now, though each time it's been a different route.
- Did you encounter any unexpected challenges or problems during your trip? Just time constraints, and detours, other than that, nope.
- How well did the destination meet your expectations in terms of culture, attractions, and activities? We have family there, and have been multiple times in the past 8yrs, but we always find something new to see/do nearby.
- Were your accommodations comfortable, clean, and convenient? They always are, since they're our van lol.
- How would you rate the value for money you received on this trip? (Very poor value, Somewhat poor value, Neutral, Somewhat good value, Very good value) A+
- Would you recommend this travel service or destination to others? (Yes, Probably, Neutral, Probably not, No) It's kinda out of the way, and far from interstates, but if you like small cities and parks then why not?
- What are some tips you would share with others planning a trip to this destination? Most places didn't open much before 10am so enjoy your mornings.
- What are your most memorable moments from this trip? What will you treasure the most? Playing with the kids, and redoing the van.
- What did you learn about yourself or your travel preferences during this trip? We could fit in a smaller bed, but we don't want to.
- Reflecting on your experience, what are your goals or priorities for your next trip? Every trip is different, but the next one is also to see family... the goals are the same. Spend time together, hang out.
