Current Van Storage Solutions

 Hey Y'all!

We've done several blogs and videos in the past year going over the layout, and our plans, and the processes to get it where it is now. Have I mentioned how much better the bed is now?! (Thanks again Billy!)

We realized in going over some of those blogs and videos, we haven't really talked in depth about our storage solutions- so here's that blog, finally!

First off we're still using two of these. We've just changed it up a bit and now store our clothes and bathroom stuff in one, with each of us having our own drawer for clothing, and the bathroom stuff we use most often as well as medication in the top drawer. (This is the one closest to the door.) In the other we have other items we need regularly, but not daily.

We like them because they're cheap, easy to clean, not much weight, and fairly durable. I had them in my craft room previously. To adapt them for van life we removed the wheels and secured the drawers from opening with Velcro closure. If we had to buy new I'd go with something just a tiny bit shorter, so they cold stack. I'd still do two of them, I'd just free up the floor space.

On top of that second one we have a similar storage solution, since it was only available in brown we painted ours (white and silver). We keep a lot of our electrical stuff in this one. Plugs, adapter, and cord for hooking up to shore power, all the cords for the power bank and solar panel, camera charging stuff, etc.

We like that this fit on top of the other, and gave us some more storage. We did the same Velcro to keep the drawers from opening while moving.

The bulk of our storage is these, and totes... of various sizes. We have two big ones that ride in the hitch basket. One holds all our dry non perishable food items, the other is all the kitchen "stuff". We still have the ones from Ollies we originally used for our clothing, but dragging them out multiple times a day got to be a PITA so now one holds the few movies and seasons we've got with us and the other holds the miscellaneous items we don't need to get to on the daily basis. We've eliminated the small totes, and condensed them either into one of the others, or into a drawer.  I still have the tote of rainy day craft supplies as well. It just all fits better now with the van redo.

Our last bit of storage advice?
Packing cubes...

Organization is key, and these help. Ours are from T.J. Maxx and are prelabeled, which we don't like- but for the price we picked them up anyhow. (12pc for around $5USD.) We have one that is all first aid, one filled with medications, another with toiletries, brochures we've kept, etc. They really aid in keeping the drawers organized.

Do you have any storage solutions to share? Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks,
The Outlands
