Hey Y'all!
So what is Craftin Wife's Creations?
Crafts, beauty, and sharing our little piece of the world. Cosmetologist💇♀️ Crafter🎨 Makeup lover💄 Bargain shopper🛍 Endometrial Cancer Survivor🍑
It's me. Amanda.
I've been blogging and using the name online since around 2012. It became a craft business in 2021, which I disbanded earlier this year. The business side of things wasn't my favorite, even though I had some success at it. I'll still do the occasional special order, but mass making a bulk order was never fun for me, and took the creativity right out of any given project. That coupled with the closure of the store(s) in which I had my items helped solidify the decision to quit the business side of crafting. I'm glad I took the steps to form the business, and I'm glad it's over too.
My passions lie in the beauty industry (since 1998) & the Craft industry (since childhood, but truly re-ignited in 2010). Beauty & Craft inspiration, product reviews, and how-to's, as well as general life stuff..
I started in the beauty world in 1997, when I was a junior in high school, and started Cosmetology classes at the local JVS. Although I guess maybe I got my start when I cut my own hair at 3, lol. I enjoyed both the creative, and practical sides of the beauty industry, but grew to hate my job at a chain salon. Fiesta Hair & Tanning was awful. The bullying of all staff, as well as favoritism, and politicking in the higher management levels was insane. That place made me hate doing hair. So much so that I didn't go back to it for years, and let my licenses lapse.
(From what I can tell in my search online, they were open from 2000-2005. I worked there 2000-2001.)
During the break from the beauty world I completed a business management degree, and started my career in retail. I worked in grocery for about a year, before becoming assistant manager at Sally Beauty Supply, the job that brought my love of beauty and retail business skills together. (I was there 2002-2004, then we moved to TN.)
Crafting started long before anything in the beauty realm, I can't remember a time as a kind we didn't have some sort of craft projects going on. Dad worked for Joann Fabrics, as a truck driver, and in the distribution centers shipping department. That company had some awesome employee sales, and family parties in the 90s.
Crafting got reignited when my niece was born, and I started making her bows, then jewelry, and it just kept evolving from there. Currently I do mostly vinyl crafts, and how to's.
