Campground Neighbors (The Good Ones)
๐️ The Campground Next Door: Shoutout to the Great Neighbors We’ve Met on the Road
Hey there, fellow travelers and tent-side philosophers! It’s Amanda & Chris from Outland Adventures, and today we’re getting a little sentimental (don’t worry, we’ll blame the campfire smoke).
Because while RV life is full of gorgeous views and weird roadside attractions, one of the best parts of this lifestyle is something that rarely gets the spotlight:
๐ซถ Really great campground neighbors.
Not the kind that blast music at 2 a.m. or let their dog poop on your rug mat (you know who you are) — we’re talking about the kind, helpful, hilarious folks who make this lifestyle feel like a real community. The ones who wave in the morning, chat by the fire, and lend you a wrench before you even realize you need one.
๐งฐ The Guy With Every Tool Ever Made
There’s always one. He rolls in, sets up camp in eight minutes flat, and somehow has a spare part for your rig stashed under his stairs.
We once had a guy notice Chris struggling with a busted hose fitting. Next thing we knew, he was back with a bin labeled “Misc. Fix-It Magic,” and he had exactly the right piece.
We offered a drink. He accepted. A friendship was born.
๐ณ The Couple Who Cooks Too Much (and Shares)
We still talk about the retired couple from Alabama who made enough cornbread to feed the entire loop. Not only did they share dinner — they brought real napkins and a tablecloth like we were at a Southern wedding.
Amanda brought cookies. Chris brought campfire coffee. We stayed up swapping stories about travel, marriage, and the ghost they swear lives in their fifth wheel.
Whether they were right or not — we slept with extra lights on that night.
๐ถ The Friendly Dog Family
Sometimes it’s not even the people — it’s their pets. There was one family with a sweet old lab named Daisy who made her rounds every morning, flopping politely in front of Wildebeest until we scratched her ears. Her humans were great too, but let’s be honest… Daisy was the draw.
They ended up sharing a fire with us on our last night there, and we traded travel stories while Daisy snoozed between our chairs like we’d known each other forever.
๐ฌ The Pop-Up Philosophers
You never know who you’ll meet while dumping trash or brushing your teeth at the bathhouse. We’ve met retired professors, vanlife artists, solo travelers with a decade of wisdom, and starry-eyed weekend warriors.
Some stay for a quick hello. Some leave you with advice that sticks.
We once met a guy who told us, “Every campsite is borrowed. Every sunset is free. Don’t forget which one matters.”
We wrote that one down.
๐ป The Ones You Just Click With
Sometimes you meet folks who just get you. Maybe they live in a skoolie, maybe a vintage trailer — maybe they’re also living on the road, working, creating, chasing weird dreams.
You swap Instagram handles. You share tools, meals, and the last of your firewood. You make plans to meet up again somewhere down the road. And when you pull away, it feels less like leaving strangers… and more like saying “see you later” to friends.
๐ Here's to the Campground Neighbors
To the ones who offer jumper cables without judgment, who share s’mores and stories, who lend you a hand or a laugh when you need it most — thank you.
You’re the quiet magic of life on the road.
RVing might look like a solo adventure, but the truth is: it’s full of people. Good people. Helpful people. Funny, oddball, generous, kind-hearted humans who remind us that even when you’re “off-grid,” you’re never really alone.
๐Currently parked: Between a friendly wave and a neighbor’s offer of leftover chili (we said yes).
