The Joys of Camping in Every Season
🌿 The Joys of Camping in Every Season
We’re Amanda & Chris, traveling full-time in Wildebeest, our 1990 Ford E350 shuttle bus conversion. One of the biggest surprises we’ve found on the road is just how different — and magical — camping feels in every season. The landscapes, the routines, even the way we connect with fellow campers all shift with the weather. Instead of chasing only “perfect” weather, we’ve learned to embrace the joys each season brings.
🌸 Spring: Fresh Starts
The world feels like it’s waking up again — blooming flowers, longer days, and that perfect “not too hot, not too cold” air. Campgrounds start buzzing as travelers return, but it’s often still quiet enough to feel peaceful. Nothing beats that first campfire of the year with a chill in the air and a hoodie pulled tight.
☀️ Summer: Classic Camping Vibes
Summer is what most people picture when they think of camping. Long days, swimming holes, cookouts, and kids riding bikes until the sun sets. Campgrounds are full of energy, and while they can be busier, that community feeling is unbeatable. It’s the season of s’mores and late-night laughter under the stars.
🍂 Fall: Cozy Adventures
Cooler weather, crunchy leaves, and fewer crowds — fall camping might just be our favorite. There’s nothing like a steaming cup of coffee by the fire on a crisp morning, or watching the trees paint the horizon in reds and golds. It’s also festival season in small towns, which makes it a perfect time to explore local traditions.
❄️ Winter: Quiet Beauty
Winter camping isn’t for everyone, but it has its own magic. Fewer people on the road means peaceful campgrounds and quiet trails. There’s a stillness to frosty mornings and snowy landscapes that feels like a reset button. Plus, it makes those hot showers and warm blankets even more rewarding.
📍Currently: Debating between a fall hike or campfire s’mores.
Do you prefer camping when it’s hot and sunny, or cool and cozy?
