Why'd We Choose A Conversion Van?

 Hey Y'all!

So, why did we choose a conversion van?

After our brief trip to Indiana, we realized a minivan was not going to work. This was already a probability in our minds, but when the offer was made we had to at least check it out, and try some planning in person. While there we just couldn't come up with a build (layout) either of us were comfortable with, being a full time couple (soon). I think for a solo traveler minivans are great.

We knew long ago (2004) we liked this size van, and we had an 1988 Ford Econoline 150. We used it to move to Tennessee after our car (Chevy Caviler) was totaled, and drove it for about a year afterwards. Being from Ohio, and us being young and broke the van had too many issues for us to afford to keep.

We also knew we didn't want any towable, a standard camper/RV, or a truck. With the feeling that towable can't get into the smaller spaces, or go as remotely as we think we'd like to be able to. We also felt most RVs are too big, and used a lot of space on things we didn't want or need. Lastly, a truck just isn't us, no real reason for that one.

While all modes of travel have pros and cons, we felt, for us a conversion van was perfect.

We don't want to do a full build, though the empty vans seemed to be the only thing in our price range so we did look at a few- but just never felt they were right enough to say YES.

Things We Like About Conversion Vans:

Space- Bigger than a "regular van" but smaller than a RV.

Fits in a standard parking spot.

Headspace/High Top.

Comfort, nice seats, controls within arms reach.

Well built, especially for travel.

The look, there's just something "cool" about a conversion van.

Buildability, without having to start from scratch or modify much.

Things We Don't:

Gas Mileage

Why'd we buy the '91 Chevy G20?

Price

Looks (little rust, was taken care of prior to sitting, interior in fantastic shape, etc.)

Mechanically Sound

Low Mileage

Seats Intact
