February Blog Schedule

Image
Hey Y'all! Wow, February already! Time for the blog schedule! February: 1st Th- Fixing the Coleman (not igloo like I originally thought) Cooler/Fridge Well... So things in this blog have to change, because we aren't saying good bye to the house today.. we're here still, until who knows when. Our assumption is the whole deal will fall through and we'll be relisted come Monday. Extremely frustrating. Also, we really don't have the money to keep this up and were heavily relying on the sale to go through. We were assured less than two weeks ago everything was good to go on both ends.... We're irritated, but we'll just keep on keeping on. Not much else we can do right now. FINAL UPDATE 2/5/24: Closing happened today! YAY! 6th T- Last Good-Bye to the House   8th Th- How'd Our First Week In  (Brunilda) The Van Go?   What are we doing/ DITL 13th T- Biggest Pet Peeves Living in the Van  What makes OA Different? How do we stand out? 15th Th- Fixin' Up the Va...

Reminisce- Worst Trips!

Image
Hey Y'all! We've had some... interesting moments on road trips, and I'll share a few of those, but nothing that we'd say made the whole trip bad. 1) Driving home from Disney pre hurricane. It was days before Irma was predicted to hit, the weather was beautiful- the traffic, not so much. I swear we stopped on I 95 every time a blade of grass moved. There were no gas stations open, all the rest areas were insane. We got off the interstate for a little while in SC and took some backroads for a few hours, which was a lot of fun. We saw small towns, and landmarks we wouldn't have seen otherwise. It probably took just as long, if not longer, and it was 13hrs of driving when we stopped, because we were just done for the day and were only about half way home. 2) & 3) Both stories I've mentioned before: Fog in WV & Car wreck . The fog was so thick in WV we followed a semi all the way up and down the mountains, stopping for gas when he did. I assume he knew we w...

Reminisce- Favorite Trips!

Image
Hey Y'all! Some of or favorite trips we don't have pictures of. We started dating before digital cameras were really even a thing. Then they were too expensive, as was developing film. What can we say...we're old. The no pictures applies to the trip we took with Chris' mom when we lived in Chesapeake, VA. We decided we were going to go gamble in Dover, DE. We got there and decided that looked, meh. SO then we traveled to Atlantic City and spent most of the night in the Tropicana. I was only 19 at the time, so don't tell anyone. We left there come morning and went home broke. Luckily we only played about $50 total. It was more about the spending time together, and going somewhere new to all of us, than the casino. Another no pics trip was coming home from one of our NC weekends visiting family (when we lived in OH) and getting lost in backwater towns in PA due to construction on the interstate, and detours we didn't follow well. There was no GPS then, and we did...

Snow Storm, No Van Update

Image
Hey Y'all! We got quite the snow storm for NE Tennessee, right at eight inches in less than 24hrs. TN is not equipped for that. The roads are finally pretty clear in most places, however it is frigid cold (like highs in the 20's and lows hovering around 0F). So needless to say, we haven't been doing anything in the van this week. We did post a few shorts on YouTube and TikTok: linktr.ee/outlandadventures Chris did a bit of filming outside the other day, here's that video: We'll get back to van "stuff" next week when the weather breaks, until then here's what we've been doing the past couple days: We're just beginning season 4 of The Middle. We've also caught up on all the cleaning and laundry. (That was easy, lol.) We've read, and played a few switch games, jokingly turned the LR into a walking track, and y'all we are bored! Did you get that winter storm too? What's it look like where you are? Share in the comments below. Thank...

Where DON'T We Want To Go? (Top 3)

Image
Hey Y'all! In this blog we'll share a few of the places we don't want to go. First on the list? Currently... we don't want to go anywhere. Northeast TN had quite the snow Monday and we had about 8 inches of accumulation. Places We Don't Want To Go: 1) NYC.  Big cities are not either of our thing and while the state looks fantastic, and has lot to offer, the city doesn't appeal to us at all. While we understand there's a lot to see and do in NYC those don't outweigh our reasons for not having the city on a go to list. 2) St. Louis, MO. It's an arch. We know the city has a bit more to offer, but there just isn't anything that makes it a must do for us. 3) Las Vegas, NV. See NYC. It's just really not "us". (Eventually we may go to all these places, but they're not anywhere on our radar now.) What's on your don't want to go list? Share in the comments below! Thanks, The Outlands

Situating The Van Part 1 (Moving In)

Image
Hey Y'all! We're getting there! In this video (below) we start moving into the van, and situating the layout. It's still very rough draft, and other than the storage drawers being secured in place, it's subject to change. We do like the current layout so far, but really won't know until we spend some more time in it. Brunilda! Early Morning. Reflectics not up yet. Us! Situating Video: We'll get better at this video thing as we continue. Any suggestions for an intro/outro? I'm not a fan of the abrupt endings we've been doing. Any layout suggestions? Changes you'd make? Feel free to share your ideas in the comments below! Thanks, The Outlands

Ask Us Anything

Image
Hey Y'all! I posted yesterday on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok asking you to ask us anything!! We got zero questions, so we'll try this again at a future date. In the meantime feel free to ask anything in the comments below! Thanks, The Outlands

Where DO We Want To Go This Year?!?

Image
Hey Y'all! So, where do we want to go this year? Is everywhere an options? Our goal over the next few years is the "lower 48".  https://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/map/usa_map.htm But... where do we plan to go this year? A few places we've been- like KY, IN, and OH. As well as several we haven't. At the top of the list and a for sure come February is: Alabama While neither of us is interest in sports, we both are interested in American history, and AL is rich with it, especially the civil rights movement. Also, though we've been to FL several times neither of us has been to the Gulf Coast. Next up? Depends on how long we spend in AL and when (April) we have to head back to NE TN. Current plan is Mississippi . Again, the Gulf, and we'd like to see the Natchez Trace visitors center, among so much more in this state. By then it'll be getting hot in the south, so we'll head north and/or west. Maybe go see family again, then throw in either IL , or ...
