Where Are We Going Next?

Image
Hey Y'all!! As you may know we've been hanging around central and southern Indiana for the past few weeks. At the beginning of April we'll be headed toward Owensboro, KY to meet up with Chris' uncle and aunt for an eclipse watch party. Shortly after I have another check up (in NE Tennessee) then we're free 'til mid May, for my 6 month check in with my primary. And then again until July- where we'll be in TN a bit longer, since I have a scan and checkup. Come July we'll probably head either north or west... What's the plan mid April- mid May?? Possibly Alabama, it's still not too hot yet, and we'd like to do the Gulf in Spring if we can get there. I need to start planning heavily now. I tried to order the tourist guide twice, and it never arrived. I guess I'll have to go digital. Anyone have any cool things to see, or do, or a great place to stay let us know in the comments below! If you missed it here's our latest video, at Adams Mil...

Our Top 5 Favorite Van Life Content Creators

Image
Hey Y'all! This list is going to be compromised of YouTubers/YouTube channels since that's the content we enjoy together. We'll read the occasional blog, or watch TikTok sometimes, but we do that separately. Together we enjoy: 1) Vancity Vanlife - Chrome (and his adorable pup Cruz) is a Vancouver Island BC based vanlifer who mainly explore the back country of Canada. He has a shop as his "home base" and works on his van and other projects there.  We like to watch to explore Canada's west coast, and to see another way of van living, as well as getting ideas/tips on must haves, and setup, etc. The Van Life Adventures Of Chrome n Cruz. We live full-time in a 2004 Ford E250 Extended cargo van. We are from Vancouver Canada and sharing out travels and journey with you here on youtube. All we want is to inspire someone everyday to wake up and be true to who they are, to live the life they want and not to live a single day hiding the true person they are inside. Wear...

Three More Things We Don't Like, Home Life to Van Life Conversions

Image
Hey Y'all! Bottom 3 more?!! In this blog we're talking about a few more products/items we don't love. First, our previous blog on the subject: https://outlandadventures.blogspot.com/2023/11/gadgets-we-hate-top-5.html This time the list is items that worked well in a house, but just don't transfer over well. These are our opinions and experience, if something is working for you, that's awesome! We're glad you made it work. 1) Keurig - I loved mine in house life, don't get me wrong. However for van life it's far to power hungry, a bit large, and there are so many ways to make coffee the Keurig just didn't make sense. We currently have this: Presto My Jo 2) Air Fryer - We loved ours, similar to the one above. (So much so it's in storage, for the future.) It cooks things so much better, and faster. But again, it's just far too power hungry and way to larger for van life. We're finding the Blackstone & Bottle Top Burner are working out gr...

Our Best Van Life Tips & Tricks, Top 5

Image
Hey Y'all! Today we're going to share our best tips & tricks we've found over the past 2+ months FT van living. Feel free to leave yours in the comments below! Top Five: 1) There is no "right" way to travel. We find we like travel best when we drive for a few hours and stop for a while. We also don't really like driving at night (and missing all the scenery). We don't follow the 222, or 333, or any other rule, but we typically stop around the 3-4hr mark, and stop for 1hr to 1 day. We have noticed stopping more with closer destinations the gas milage isn't as great as it was that first big trip, but it's still pretty good. What's your travel rule? 2) What works for others may not work for you, and that's okay! We find we love travel centers, and regular old touristy stuff just as much as (if not more than) the off the beaten path/ hard to find locations. We like doing a little research about a place, then really digging deep once we arr...

Playing Catch Up...

Image
Hey Y'all, We're a bit behind. We've been traveling, and hanging out with family. So..... Let's catch up: Th 7th- Working on the Van Some More. Finished? Tu 12th- Who are We, Amanda & Chris? Th 14th- Full Van Tour! Van Work: Day at the park: Who are we? From our YouTube: We are Chris & Amanda. Join us on our everyday adventures!! We've been together since 2000, and married in 2003. We have lived in NE TN for the past 19 years (wow)!! Prior to that we lived in NE OH, where Amanda grew up, and briefly in Chesapeake, VA. (Chris grew up hopping between South Eastern VA & North Eastern NC.) We're thrilled for you to join us in the very new decision to pack it all in and start our extended travel/nomad/van life. Amanda graduated from HS and Cosmetology in 2000 in Ohio, did hair for a few years, then attended a business management course (graduating from that in 04). She worked in retail or retail management most of her working years. In 2020, right before...

Three More Gadgets We Love

Image
Hey Y'all! We've been full time for about 6 weeks now, and we've got more great gadgets to share! Just a reminder of our previous picks: https://outlandadventures.blogspot.com/2023/10/gadgets-we-love-top-3-for-daily-life.html https://outlandadventures.blogspot.com/2023/09/our-top-5-van-life-must-haves.html https://outlandadventures.blogspot.com/2023/11/gadgets-we-hate-top-5.html We've got three more to add to the list! 1) Power! We chose this one: Eco Flow Delta Mini- https://us.ecoflow.com/products/delta-mini-portable-power-station?variant=39976376434761 Delta is little (roughly 15x7x9), fairly lightweight at 23lbs, doesn't take up a ton of space, has plenty of power for our needs (1400W), and got great reviews. So far it's serving our needs very well, and charges quickly. We also liked the price point on this one, and got an even better deal than the sale price on eBay.  We've yet to use our 220W solar panels, so there's no mini review on them yet, bu...

What's Up???

Image
Hey Y'all! As I write this Chris is editing the video for last weeks  Outland Adventures  Thursday video/blog.  Saturday the 24th of February we were headed out to my sisters for the day, since we had a shop appt for Brunilda (the van) the following Monday we couldn't do much until then. The upcoming update will go into more detail, but we spent a week at my sisters while Chris and our amazing BIL fixed what broke.  Sunday the 3rd we went back to my Moms, picked up all our packages, and spent the night in her large driveway. Monday Chris did the brakes himself. (Saturday we went to our nieces second twirl  competition ! They all did awesome, but she's our favorite!) Chris had been in communication recently with his uncle, who invited us to an event for the upcoming eclipse in Owensboro, KY. It has been years since Chris has seen them, and I've never met him so we decided to take them up on the offer. Our other BIL (Chris' sister's husband) is a mechanic i...
