Who are we?

We are Chris & Amanda. Join us on our everyday adventures!! We've been together since 2000, and married in 2003. We have lived in NE TN for the past 19 years (wow)!! Prior to that we lived in NE OH, where Amanda grew up, and briefly in Chesapeake, VA. (Chris grew up hopping between South Eastern VA & North Eastern NC.) We're thrilled for you to join us in the very new decision to pack it all in and start our extended travel/nomad/van life.

Amanda graduated from HS and Cosmetology in 2000 in Ohio, did hair for a few years, then attended a business management course (graduating from that in 04). She worked in retail or retail management most of her working years. In 2020, right before the pandemic, she was very ill and diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer 3C2. Surgery and 6 chemo later, she was NED... until April 2023, with an aortic lymph node recurrence. In May she did radiation, and again was in the clear, She gets checked on every 3mo. Amanda enjoys crafts of all kinds, makeup, reading, Sims, and obviously travel!

Chris finished school in 1996 in NC, and then went on to an auto shop vocational school, before realizing his true passions in the computer/gaming/tech industries in which he has several degrees. Most of his career however has been in the manufacturing industry, before retiring from that to focus on creating games, and travel full time. He grew up bopping between Eastern NC and Southeast VA. Chris enjoys gaming, anything computer related, photography, and travel!

We met through friends, in July of 2000 in NC. The friends met online, back when yahoo chat rooms were a thing. Over that time the 4 of us spent several days together going to various places, including OBX. We had dinner at Mc Donald's that night, and I'm glad no one decided to spring for a "nicer" dinner, everything tasted like SALT after a day at Nags Head. After that trip we wrote letters, talked on the the phone, and planned future trips. In April 2001 Amanda moved with Chris and his family to Chesapeake, VA. In September 2001 we then moved to Ohio. After the new year we split for a few months for work and then got an apartment in Ohio in 2002. We married in Ohio in 2003, then moved to Tennessee in 2004. We were there just shy of 20 years!!

Together we enjoy nature watching, thrift shopping, gaming, and TRAVEL!

We've always liked road trips and exploring the world around us, and are excited to share with you!

Places We've Been/Things We've Done- March & April

 Hey Y'all, So, what have we been doing? Some of it we've shared here in the blog (Like our first Loves RV stay) some we've shared on our social media accounts: linktr.ee/outlandadventures We started out March in NE Ohio, Chris' best friend (more like family really, and that's how we generally refer to them) had just had surgery on his ankle. We visited with them, attended a basketball game, a dance competition, several parks, played bingo, went to Quality Inn with an entire indoor play area with pools, hot tub, mini golf, arcade, and various play areas. I'm sure there was more, but those were the highlights! After we left them we spent a few days in Findley State Park, before heading further west, we spent a night in Delphos, OH... Pretty area, but the weather didn't really cooperate enough to enjoy outdoor recreation. That brings us to April... Our Favorite Places Thus Far (Updated) TOP 5

 Hey Y'all! This is a bit of a filler blog, because while we've been places we've liked nothing so far has beat these five. Honorable mention to the latest museums, we really enjoyed them all. Both Jonesborough, and Greeneville TN are awesome (Lost State of Franklin) and we highly recommend them too.   We've been fortunate to have seen quite a few sights these past few months, here's our top 5!  There were so many cool things, and places coming up with just five favorites was harder than expected. Working from 5, and in order we'll start with... 5)  Athens Veterans Museum - Welcome to the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives. Located in Athens Alabama, we are proud to be a part of our military history with a large exhibit center, guided tours provided by local veterans, gift shop, meeting facilities, monthly coffee call and much more . Our Favorite Things/Places/Experiences This Past Month

 Hey Y'all! We were fortunate to do/see a lot of different places this past month. We traveled from NE Ohio, through OH and KY, where we spent a day in Corbin, and then onto NE Tennessee, we took a few days in Bristol, VA, and spent a week in the great outdoors at the quiet, serene Mammoth Ridge near Greeneville. In-between trips in TN we stayed at my mom's and did the whole doctors appointments and scans thing, again. PLACE- While in Ohio we really had a blast, and there's so much to share there it'll be a couple of videos, very soon. Our favorites were the haunted attractions, and getting to cross another National Park off our list with Cuyahoga Valley National Park . Brandywine Falls History runs deep in the valley, with over 12,000 years of human occupation. From the unwritten stories of pre-contact peoples to the environmental disasters and comebacks of modern times, humans have left an impact on the valley.
