It's Thursday, What's Up
Hey Y'all,
So, I promised some sort of blog today, and every Tues/Thur for the remainder of the month (until we get back on track).
So, What's up?
We're meandering back to NE Tennessee, for doctors appointments again. So far it's been eventful!
We got a late start yesterday, partly due to not being ready, getting things done in the rain, and partly because we didn't want to leave. Today we woke up, got ready, started the van, and the belt came off. It was split in several places, and Chris is thinking it was a bad part. Luckily we were carrying a spare, and after getting half way done, we got kicked out of that parking lot. So we moved, starting the process all over, and at 11am we were South bound again.
Traffic was pretty light the rest of the way on todays leg of our journey, except Cincinnati. I've always hated traveling through there anyhow, but coming |this close| to being forced off the road by a semi today was no fun. He was in the wrong lane and wasn't taking I 71, and didn't want to wait to get over, thankfully we had a few inches to spare and came out shook up, but not squashed.
After that it was pretty uneventful, traffic remained pretty light and we got through Lexington (I 75) with ease. After a trip to Buckee's we were on the road again. We did enjoy the scenery, and fall foilage today.
Corbin is where we called it a day today, and we'll finish this trip tomorrow. We opted for a hotel tonight, I'm writing the blog(s), Chris is working on editing a video, and we're just relaxing. To be honest we're a bit bummed this hotel doesn't seem to have cable, which seems odd. We'll probably take showers, and find something to watch on the broadcast channels later this evening after we finish with our tasks. Maybe we'll play games if we can't find anything on TV.
Dinner is going to be at the diner between the hotel and gas station, we've heard good things, and the prices seemed fair. 10% off with our stay here (which includes breakfast tomorrow).
Once we get back "home" we have some organization and cleaning of the van to do, and it's definitely time to switch out the summer clothes, and grab an extra blanket from the storage unit.
Plans beyond my November appointment remain up in the air. Most routes from home base further south no longer exist, and we don't want or need to add to the unnecessary traffic through those areas hardest hit by Helene.
Any winter travel suggestions? Leave them in the comments below!
Thanks,
The Outlands
