A Day in the Life of Winter RV Living

A Day in the Life of Winter RV Living ❄️🚐

Winter RV life isn’t just about cozy blankets and hot cocoa—though there’s plenty of that. For me, Amanda, writing this from Wildebeest, it’s a mix of adventure, creativity, and a little bit of “how did it get this cold?” sprinkled with humor. Here’s a peek into a typical winter day on the road.

Morning: Cold Air, Warm Propane ☕️

We wake to frost on the windows and a chill that makes stepping outside a bold move. First things first: we fire up our propane heater inside Wildebeest—no cold toes allowed. While it warms the RV, I brew a steaming cup of coffee and start planning the day.

Breakfast is usually something simple cooked on the propane stove or Blackstone—think eggs, oatmeal, or pancakes. Meanwhile, Chris checks road conditions and makes sure our gear is ready for the day.

Midday: Exploring Small Towns & Quirky Stops πŸ›£️

Once we’re bundled up and fueled, we hit the road. Winter travel has perks: empty attractions, open diners, and serene scenic spots. A side-of-the-road snowman here or a frozen fountain there becomes a little tradition of ours.

Even short walks or hikes in crisp air make the day feel full. And of course, we film whenever something catches our eye—the snow-tipped barns, frosty cornfields, or quirky roadside oddities. Chris handles most of the filming and editing, while I focus on capturing content for the blog.

Afternoon: Creativity & Cozy Hobbies πŸ”§πŸ“šπŸ’„

Afternoons are a mix of work and downtime. I might craft, read, or get glam for a beauty photo or a mini tutorial (all part of Craftin’ Wife’s Creations). Chris spends his time writing, coding, gaming, or editing videos for ShadowWolf Studios and Outland Adventures.

Winter RVing brings its own little maintenance challenges—checking propane levels, topping off our 5-gallon fresh water, and making sure everything stays functional in the cold. With fewer distractions from other campers, it’s actually a great time to focus on creative projects.

Evening: Cozy Meals & Filming πŸŒ™

As daylight fades, we cook a hearty meal on the propane stove or Blackstone. Dinner is followed by filming or editing—Chris usually handles most of the video work while I document moments for the blog. Amanda might photograph snow-covered scenes or do a mini beauty shoot, while Chris wraps up editing or plays a quick game to unwind.

Evenings are quiet but productive—the perfect balance of cozy downtime and creative hustle.

Night: Rest, Recharge, Repeat 🌌

Winter RV life isn’t glamorous, but it’s peaceful and uniquely ours. By the time we crawl into bed under layers of blankets, we’re ready to do it all over again the next day: another snowy stop, another quirky small-town find, another creative session.

❄️ Tips for Winter RV Living:

  • Insulate & warm: Keep that propane heater running before venturing out.

  • Travel light: Roads can be tricky, so check conditions often.

  • Plan creative downtime: Reading, crafting, blogging, filming—whatever keeps you sane inside.

  • Embrace the quiet: Winter brings empty attractions, fewer crowds, and unique photo ops.

Winter RV life may not be for everyone, but if you love adventure, creativity, and a side of cozy, it’s hard to beat.

What do your Winter RV travel days look like?
