Where Did We Go (In 2024)?

 Hey Y'all!

This time last year we posted a blog titled "Where DO We Want To Go This Year?"

(It proceeded the where we don't want to go blog...)

At the top of our list was Alabama, and although it was a bit later- April vs February, we did dip our toes into this beautiful state.

We absolutely loved the areas we explored:

Cowford Campground

Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge

Small towns like Athens, and Scottsboro

Unclaimed Baggage

TN River

Wheeler Lake

and so much more...

We anticipate a return to Alabama in our future to explore more of this state!

We did spend a lot of time in Central Indiana this past year. We redid the entire van layout, added insulation, carpet, and a real bed while there.

We also visited family, many local parks, and even a water park.

In Southern IN we visited Oakridge Campground, several parks and towns, and spent a day in both Evansville, and Owensboro, KY. We watched the eclipse from here too.

On a different trip through IN we stayed at our first KOA.

We explored more of KY too- Berea, Richmond, Mt Vernon, and Fort Boonesborough just to name a few. We really enjoyed the KY Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Battle of Richmond! We also added a new state park to our list while in KY.

Tennessee is home, so we have to travel here often- for family, and doctors appointments. This year we attended a KOA Christmas in July event, added another 3 State Parks to our list, and toured small town TN like real tourists. We don't recommend Little Debbie Park, but if you're in the area the factory store is nice. We did really like the Mayfield tour, and enjoyed SE Tennessee overall.

We love the mountains, but we're glad to leave 'em too! So a trip to middle TN was perfect, we spent 2 days in Franklin soaking up the civil war history before moving on.

We also spent a good while in Ohio, and added another National Park to the list of visited. While here we hung out with family/friends, visited many parks, restaurants, attended a ton of Football games, as well as a haunted attraction. (If you stole our magnet from Forest of Screams, we hope it brings you joy!)

We visited small towns and large cities, and enjoyed every minute! The Pepperidge Farm Outlet is worth the stop, in Jeffersonville just for that store. We also attended a laughable "train ride" but it was a pretty day, and breakfast was good. Ohio is Amanda's home state and we really had a lot of fun this trip- we even got to meet (& spoil) our great niece.

We did not make it to any other states on the list from last year. Between the duration of our stays, radiation again, and doctors appointments we just didn't have the time. We were too busy exploring where we were to mosey on up the road(s).

To finish out the year, before headed back to Tennessee for the holidays we traveled to South Carolina! It's a state we'd been through, and stayed overnight a few times, but not a state we'd either done much IN.

We were going to take our time crossing through NC, and we did- we spent over an hour at the welcome/visitor center, but the Hurricane damage was too vast to find accommodations open or affordable for last minute plans. So we continued on, and stayed 6wks in SC, all along the i-26 corridor.

We visited nature preserves, gardens, waterfalls, toured BMW, visited many small towns, a plantation, and attended a few holiday events. We also added yet another State Park to our list! We didn't even make it to the coast. we were having too much fun playing with Fred- the highland cow at Outside Inn, or hiking one of SC gorgeous trails.

In order:

TN Feb-Mar (1 major area explored)

IN Mar-Apr (4 areas)

TN Apr (1)

AL Apr-May (5)

TN May (3 or 4)

KY May-Jun (3)

TN Jun-Aug (4)

KY Aug-Aug (1)

OH Aug- Oct (Too Many! Our best guess... 12-15)

TN Oct-Nov (3)

SC Nov- Dec (8?)

TN Dec-??? (3)

Almost 50 areas, in 6 states this year!

Free version only allows 10, so with two accounts I had to be creative with the major stops...

So while we didn't get to as many new states as we planned, we did thoroughly enjoy exploring in 2024!

Thanks,

The Outlands
