Our Favorite Places 2024

Image
Hey Y'all! As we've mentioned before we were fortunate to experience so many places/things in 2024. There were only a small handful of things we didn't like. Here's some of our favorites. Tours: Mayfield Dairy We were pleasantly surprised with the size of our ice creams at the end of this tour! It was very neat to learn the history of the company and the Mayfield family. Our favorite part though, was seeing the packaging, and the milk jugs being made. Carnton / Battle of Franklin The tour of the house was fantastic, and the grounds are massive. We spent the better part of the morning here, ate lunch, then went to Carter House. (That was neat too, but not near as informative.) We could have easily done the day here alone, exploring the grounds. Our tour guide for the house was clearly a history buff, and did a great job of telling the history of the house, the families, and the Civil War battle that happened almost in their back yard. We've done enough of the tours ...

Several, we're ready to see more! What tourist places do you like to visit? State Parks, theme parks, gardens, local spots, museums, etc. Do you prefer visiting beaches or mountains? We both like both, but after 19 years in the mountains, bring on the beaches! Have you ever visited a European country? Nope. Have you ever visited an African country? Nope. What’s your best vacation memory? Pre-Van? C- Disney World, any trip. A- The Atlantic City trip, the journey re...

Happy Valentine's Day

Image
Hey Y'all, So what are our plans for the day? Not much. As We've shared before, we're not really into a commercial holiday telling us what we should do. Flowers, Chocolates, Overpriced Dinner. That's just not our style.   So, what are our plans? Packing up and leaving this camp spot. Glad it's not raining today. As well as trying to get a few things done with the van- like tire rotation, window tint, etc. Then headed in the direction we need to go- North and West. Slowly, since we have plenty of time to reach our destination. What are your plans today? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks, The Outlands

One Year As A Full Time Van Life Couple

Image
Hey Y'all! In some ways we can't believe it's been a year already. In other ways we can't believe it's only been a year! In this blog we'll talk about some of the best, and worst things we've experienced this year, as well as what we've learned a year in. We like to end on positivity, so let's start with some of the worst experiences this past year... 1) Amanda's recurrence with Endometrial Cancer. July's radiation really took a lot out of her, and was excruciatingly painful every time for at least a day afterward. Horrible experience. (So far this recurrence, and radiation hasn't been too bad. Se soreness and fatigue, and that's been it.) 2) Blown tire, no spare. This was technically before we were FT, but it sucked. We knew it was a gamble, and we lost.  We did find some of the friendliest people in Dry Ridge, KY so it wasn't all bad. There's a whole video about that trip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g9-dIjF9Z4 3)...

Goal Progress Report

Image
Hey Y'all! So how are we progressing with our goals one month in? Let's see... 2025: 1) Post daily on at least one of our social media platforms.  Tuesday's and Thursday's will remain blogs and videos.  Saturday's and Sunday's will be something quick and fun, like a picture of what we're doing. Monday, and Wednesday are currently anything goes.  These posts can be on any, or all of our social media so be sure to check us out everywhere. This is going really well so far! We've surpassed 100 on both YouTube and our Facebook page. Amanda handles all social media and blogging, while Chris does 99% of the YouTube filming and editing. Our Sunday posts are now a question to our followers, Wednesday remain anything goes. 2) Get more active on Instagram, add Amanda as a user to that account as well. - DONE! However, is anyone using Instagram still? We've had no growth over there and really don't notice many posts from others either. 3) Work on Work Camp R...

Travel Bucket List!

Image
Hey Y'all! Last Year when we started living full time in Brunilda, our 1991 Chevy G20 Conversion Van, we came up with a bucket list for the year. We never shared it with anyone, so we're doing that now. We liked the idea, and it gave us a bit of a travel goal for the year, so we decided to do it again this year. Without further ado here's what we accomplished from last year: We had a lot on our list, and we're grateful to have accomplished most of it! Here's a list of what we did: See the eclipse ( from Oakridge Campground in Rockport, IN) Alabama!
