A Day in the Life of Workampers

A Day in the Life of Workampers

Ever wondered what daily life looks like when you live and work on the road? Being a workamper means your office might be a campground, a park, or a roadside attraction—and your coworkers could be squirrels, campers, or a very friendly dog. Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes of a typical day on the road, from morning routines to evening adventures.

Morning: Check-Outs, Coffee, and Sunrise Views

Our days usually start early, with a cup of coffee brewed in our trusty RV kitchen. While I review our itinerary and handle camper check-outs, Chris is busy with maintenance tasks around the campground. Early mornings are quieter, making it the perfect time to tackle projects that keep the park running smoothly. And of course, there’s always time to pause and enjoy a new sunrise—it’s a perk no office can compete with!

Mid-Morning to Afternoon: Maintenance and Daily Tasks

Most of Chris’s time in the mornings and early afternoons is spent on hands-on maintenance. This could include fixing electrical issues, repairing playgrounds or facilities, or general upkeep to keep everything safe and welcoming. Meanwhile, I focus on planning content, updating our social media, or checking on camper needs that arise during the day.

Late Afternoon: Check-Ins Begin

As the afternoon rolls in, campers start arriving for check-in. This is a busy and fun time, greeting new visitors, showing them around, and helping them settle into their spots. Even with work on our hands, we try to make every interaction personal and welcoming—after all, connecting with people is one of the best parts of workamping.

Evening: Exploration and Relaxation

Once the last camper is checked in, the day’s structured work ends, and we get to enjoy the adventure side of our lifestyle. Whether it’s hiking nearby trails, photographing scenic spots, or exploring quirky local attractions, evenings are all about making memories.

Nighttime: Stars, Stories, and Planning Ahead

Before bed, we often step outside to enjoy the night sky, especially in rural spots where the stars seem endless. It’s a reminder of why we chose this lifestyle: freedom, exploration, and living life on our own terms.

Being a workamper is more than just a job—it’s a way of life that combines travel, adventure, and community. Every day brings something new, and every new location has its own stories waiting to be discovered.
